Every sikh is not supposed to be called papaji.

Like Hinduism there are many castes in Sikhism too. One of the caste among them is bhape or phape. The people (usually men) belonging to that caste is called as "papaji". Others who belong to others castes are not papaji and shouldn't be called that. There are many other castes in this religion like jats, ramgarhiya, saini etc. This is a generelization mistake done by people, please clarrify it and stop calling every sardar as papaji.

A sikh sardar is nothing to be joked about.

Like Hinduism, Sikhism also have castes and subcastes. There is a caste called 'Jat'. These jat people were mostly into farming and were known as very hardworking caste. Since they were mostly into farming, they were not much educated. Since they have very strong physic and were doing hardworks using their strength, people use to say that a jat has low senses and is only good for hardworking, like we say "akal badi ya bhains". So there were jokes on jats challanging his intelligence much like pathans and khans in muslim religion as they also have strong physic and all that. But the time has changed, today these jatts and khans are the most successfull people. They are educated, they are into buisnessess, industry, entertainment. Many jatts are so rich and many are well settled in abroad, So no point of judging there intelligence. Now the problem here is that sikh and hindus from punjab knows very well about jatts as a caste. But the other people who doesn't know about jatts and all, have generallized this thing and they think the same for all sikhs and tease or make fun of all sikhs upon this. Why??? What is the connection of rest of the sikhs with this thing that once jatts were made fun of. That thing was related only to jatts, whether they are hindu or sikh or they are from punjab or haryana. That issue has nothing to do with a sikh religion. Is there any logic of teasing a person who was a Hindu and now following sikhism for learning the facts of life??? After this clarrification i don't think that there is anything funny about a sikh sardar upon which someone can joke on him or make fun of him.

The 12'o clock reality and fact.

Many peaple make fun of sikhs by teasing them and telling its 12'o clock. They say its 12'o clock and now a sikh will go crazy and all. Many has misconceptions and thinks like that and others do just for teasing purpose. Well it's not something like a joke or something like a fun, its not just related to an individual but entire religion. Making a joke of a religion is abusive. Let me tell u the fact about this and after which you will really feel shame if u ever teased or have such mentality about sikhs.

The fact about this:
At the time of Mughal Empire in India there have been cruel mercyless Emperors like  Aurangzeb. Who ruled india and treated people as slaves. They forced people to change there religion and if ignored they use to simply cut them, torture them, and much more worse things u can imagine. Have you ever heard about the girls or women who are sold to arab countries to shaikh buyers?? Well this is a quite old business. At the time of Mughal empire in India , the Mughals use to carry this buisness. Mughals use to attack hindus, and kidnap there women and then those were taken to arab countries. Nothing could be done, all were helpless. At that time a secret army of sikhs was made who were suppose to release these women from mughals and get them back. This secret force of sikhs use to prctice guerrila attacks which is a hidden attack on enemies as this was the only possible way because mughals were very large in count and a front attack would be useless. The force use to attack at night after 12 when mughals who were taking those women use to rest at night. People use to wait for night 12'o clock and when sikh forces use to leave for that attack at night 12, hindus say (in a respectful manner) "sardaro ke 12 baj gaye" which means "sardaro ke barah baj gaye ab hamari behen/ betiyaan ghar aa jaegi". The enemies use to fear sikhs saying "12 baj gaye, sardaron ka aane ka time ho gaya hai".

Now when you understand the real fact about 12'o clock just think how a sikh sardar feels when  someone teases him for whom these sikhs have played on their lives, protected their women. You can't repay a sikh for what he has done for you in any way, we don't even want anything as sikhs have done all that for its motherland, for humanity. If you understand little bit and have some shame upon your thinking then please change your view. We dont ask for anything like repay or something but atleast respect this religion for what it is and for what it has done for you, for country, for humanity.

Difference between Sikhs and Punjabis.

Well a Sikh must not be neccesarily a punjabi. There's a lot of confusion with who is a Sikh and who is a Punjabi, who keeps turban and who doesn't. Let me explain, Sikhism and punjabi who two seperate things. Punjab is a state of india like gujrat, maharashtra and others, its a hindu state and punjabi language is spoken over there. Punjabis living over there are hindus. Now in the time of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, a new religion was founded in india i.e: Sikhism. Now its like a coincidence the this religion was founded on the land of punjab and so naturally Sikhs from punjab speak punjabi. If it was founded in maharashtra or gujrat or Bengal then sikhs must be speaking different language. In nanded, Maharashtra, there are many maharashtrians who follow Sikhism, they wear turban and follow sikhism but speak marathi. So u see a sikh is not necessarily a punjabi, its a religion which any body from any state can follow and not necessarily be a punjabi or speak punjabi.

What is sikhism?

Sikhism is a religion founded in the fifteenth century in punjab on the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and ten successive Sikh Gurus.
'Sikh' means 'learn' (sikhna - to learn). Sikhism is a religion which makes its follower to learn the reality, truth, facts of life, nature, god, truthfulness, ownself..
